About the Author Ushka Devi: Tantric Yogini, teacher, traveller, dancer, poet and performer of the ancient mysteries and sacred arts. Her understanding of and passion for yoga has been fostered by her fascination with sacred geometry, mythology and Sri Vidya, the Goddess in all her guises. Ushka is the author and artist of I is for Imagination, a graphic ABC for children, with 26 playfully illustrated cards and a book—a key into esoteric symbolism. The collection of symbols and mythic iconography in the “Kids’ Tarot Cards” evoke inner archetypes and Nature-Spirit connection, and can be used in a variety of creative and magical ways. Together with her musician husband, Pierre Terblanche, she created the band Earthlings, a tribal fusion of nature-based ethnic instruments with Western instruments. A trendsetter, it spawned an underground cult following. When Pierre and Ushka relocated from Johannesburg to Cape Town in the 90s, Earthlings transformed into Eartheart, focusing on ritual celebration with sound and dance and the recording and production of music. Albums include Earplay, Mothertongue, Dance of Bliss and Intuit. Tracks from the albums have been used in various documentaries. DAKINI FLIES VERY HIGH WITH MANY DIAMONDS By Alan Jacobs The distinguished South African Authoress Ushka Devi is a truly multi-talented lady, A celebrated performing artist and dancer, she combines her considerable writing skills with a very well grounded and impressive knowledge of Indian Spirituality. Like a sky-dancing Dakini of Tantric and Tibetan mythology she too sky dances and romps through an adventurous topsy turvey life with tremendous panache. All this makes for very interesting and compelling reading, and in her book, with occaisional demons around, she tells us about her dramatic roller coaster riide of the century. There is romance, lost love, adventures in Goa and numerous psychodelic aventures which portray the eternal feminine dramatically, but always with clarity. It is also a spiritual memoir in four major sections. This fine series of uniquely remarkable memoirs is punctuated with cunningly witty illustrations. Saying any more would give away the charm and excitement of reading her book. Suffice it to say that this novel series of memoirs is unique and I would highly recommend it for all those who enjoy high drama, with spice and truly surreal and humourous events.Alan Jacobs Poet Author Writer.

Parallel stories keep you a little discombobulated at first... perhaps a bit like an acid trip. It smooths out and ebbs and flows. One side is very real, very carnal, and terribly sad. The other is more spiritual, more hopeful and positive as the story teller discovers the beauty of feminine energy. I found the telling of the story of people helping her, supporting her, quite lovely. Elle's gratitude is clear by the way she includes them in her story. There are many heroes in the book.

She has many adventures and misadventures along the way but eventually discovers her resilience and ability to survive wherever she finds herself, which in this case is Goa, India.
