Step into a world of yellow fever and family secrets, where even the most upstanding of Southern gentlemen may not be as perfect as they seem and the strongest of marriages can have their cracks. The year is 1880, and another steamy summer has arrived in New Orleans. Beautiful, spirited, and not yet twenty years old, Liliana Mirabeau Patterson has settled into a comfortable existence within the boundaries of the city’s Garden District. There is no denying that she and her husband, Joshua, come from two contrasting—if not contradictory—sectors of Southern society. She is a member of an established Creole family, while he is a native of Georgia with strong Scotch-Irish roots. Despite their differences and the disapproval of the old Louisiana aristocracy, however, the two are fully devoted to each other and to their infant son, Gabriel. Then an unwelcome guest barrels through the Pattersons’ door, embarking on a rampage that will change their happy household forever. The name of that guest is Yellow Jack, and his visit will tear the young family apart in more ways than one. And the Roses Bloomed Yellow is the story of his conquest. It is also the story of the faith, love, and loyalty that he calls into question—and the clash of cultures that he brings to the fore.
