Edward Phillips Oppenheim (22 October 1866 – 3 February 1946) was an English novelist, in his lifetime a major and successful writer of genre fiction including thrillers. Oppenheim's literary success enabled him to buy a villa in France and a yacht, then a house in Guernsey, though he lost access to this during the Second World War. Afterwards he regained the house, le Vanquiédor in St. Peter Port, and he died there on 3 February 1946. During the war he worked for the Ministry of Information.

Ruthless and Romantic By Dharma Mr Stirling Deane is the CEO of highly succcessful mining company, based in South Africa, and listed on the London Stock Exchange. The basis of his fortune is the Little Anna Gold Mine, which he brought to successful production early in his career. His is engaged to Lady Olive Nunnelly, and is the envy of all of society.He is threatened with ruin when a old enemy - Richard Sinclair- shows up in London with what appears to be a legitimate prior deed to the mine. Deane confides in Basil Rowan, a failed and dying miner, who undertakes to negotiate with Sinclair. Sinclair is killed, and Rowan imprisoned for murder. Deane meets with Rowan's sister, Winnifred, who begs him to help her brother who is sentenced to death.Published under the pseudonym Anthony Partridge in 1911
