By Michael Melcher I was actually looking for a straightforward set of plot summaries summaries that I could read prior to attending an opera performance. As a reference, however, this book falls way short of the mark. In Kindle format, at least, it is almost impossible to go from the table of contents which is in paragraph form directly to a specific opera. Furthermore, I bought this book prior to attending a performance of La Traviata, and found that there was actually no prot summary given. Instead, I was informed that the story essentially follows the plot for the French play, Camille. Bravo...I guess I am now looking for a book on plots of the plays. My recomendation is that you don't waste your money. Amazon lists two other offerings related to describing the plots of the operas and they are free.
