Those are the words that came to mind while trying to describe this collection of poetry. There are more, of course- endearing, heartbreaking, thought-provoking. Regardless of how I choose to describe it the subject matter won’t change. We’ve all heard that the pen is mightier than the sword and April Green proves that throughout the collection, regardless of the topic that you find yourself in. Her voice resonates through the words on the page and touches the reader in such a way that only her experiences can. Many people wish to be poets- High schoolers, drunken coworkers, romanticized starving artists- the list goes on, but very few actually know how to stitch words together to touch the human heart. April Green is one of the few.Very rarely do I come upon a collection of the written word that imprints itself upon my heart like this one has. Perhaps it’s due to the person I used to be or the person I want to become but it felt like my feelings had been put into words with far more elegance than I could ever create.

She has achieved what on many occasions seems impossible to even aim for, which is the essential beauty and power of healing through art. These are no longer words but raw, delicate energy taken in; seated into the very depths of the spirit where they fall and settle with the confidence of belonging. She invites the reader to ‘sit amongst these words for a while. . .’Here she speaks to everyone, all of us without discrimination, with a voice of hope, compassion, gentle yet profoundly strong. I believe this book is a success both as an artistic and spiritual contribution.
