By Amazon Customer The Author takes the reader on a journey through time and place with her writing style. One second you're at a bar having a sip of a fine spirit and the next you're in a castle from the 1400's. Her poems will leave you on the edge of your seat wanting more but as you turn the page you've been drawn to another dimension. I found myself backtracking as if there were a connection between two or more poems, piecing together a timeline in which these events may have occurred. More often than not throughout my read Roberta Flack's "Killing Me Softly" came to mind; strumming my pain with her fingers, writing my life with her words, that's how close to home some of these poems hit. If you admire one's development through struggle to find strength then you will certainly enjoy this read.

This collection belongs on my bookshelf next to e.e. cummings and Sylvia Plath. Poetry was meant to invoke the human spirit; to amplify the echoes of thoughts and emotions we carry deeply within ourselves. A TRUE poet can convey words to us in such a way that they seem to strum the chords of our souls, so much like a puppet master pulling at the strings of our very being. Simply stated, Erica J. Maxwell is a poetress. This collection proves that she has earned the privilege of that title, bottom line. Her poems flow like rivers. At times roaring with the power of rushing currents and other times gently splashing over long forgotten stones, but always leaving an impression that you will find hard to forget.
