PUBLISHER'S NOTE: Previously released in 2013 as The Lone Wolf.

"Redemption. This was the first word that occurred to me with the last sentence of the book. Redemption for what we've done; redemption from what we've suffered. ...a touching story of two people struggling to find their place in life and their true self, two souls which have suffered more than enough, two human beings who have discovered that we are the loneliest in our darkest hours." ~ Tsvetalina Baykusheva

Evolved Publishing presents an intimate glance inside two people's struggle to find happiness and contentment in their often troubled lives. [DRM-Free]

[Literary, Women's Fiction, Contemporary]

When her husband David’s infidelities are revealed, shattering the perfect life Kasey Sanford thought they’d created together, it’s a wake-up call that she’s lost herself along the way. She demands that David move with her to a new town, to a fresh start for their life together.

Kasey loves the freedom of reinventing herself, including her new friendship with police officer and soldier Andrew Adams. Andrew is handsome and charming, and his interest in Kasey awakens feelings she’d rather have for her husband, who pushes her further away with each of his alcohol-fueled outbursts. Intent on preserving her marriage for the sake of her young daughter, and with no one else to confide in, Kasey turns to Andrew for support.

But Andrew’s own life is falling apart as he’s put on standby for another deployment, triggering painful memories he’d rather ignore. He’ll do anything to forget the soldiers who didn’t return home with him, his stillborn son, and all those he’s disappointed, including God.

As their relationship grows, Kasey must decide if she will repair her marriage and remain with the man she’s always loved, or if she will give up everything she holds dear to save the soul of a man she barely knows, a man who fights her at every step, a man desperate to regain his faith in God, in humanity, and in himself.

5 of 5 people found the following review helpful. The Lone Wolf By BookReader At the beginning of The Lone Wolf, you’ll be introduced to Kasey Sanford. Within a few words, you’ll immediately relate to a woman leading what is on the surface a fairy-tale life that is shattered by the infidelity of her husband, David. The day-to-day business of living for Kasey is turned upside down as she is confronted with forks in a road she never dreamed of traveling. Understanding her role as a partner through life is the journey a reader will travel with page-turning pleasure and sadness. E.D. Martin expertly brings forth the empathy of the reader with an unusual and wonderful approach, alternating character views with Andrew Adams, the man Kasey will ultimately turn to for healing the ache and confusion of a collapsing life. Carrying a load of his own demons, chemistry draws them together in mutual need. The Lone Wolf is a character driven story. As with most people, personal history dominates behavior, and the methodology used to reveal the motivations and behavior of Andrew is artfully done. No spoilers here, but you will find the process of this presentation a pleasant read.I recommend this book, and I’m looking forward to a continuation of this story.

Redemption for what we've done; redemption from what we've suffered. The Lone Wolf is a touching story of two people struggling to find their place in life and their true self, two souls which have suffered more than enough, two human beings who have discovered that we are the loneliest in our darkest hours. As everyone else I've had my ups and downs. I've loved and I've been loved, even in cases when I couldn't respond with the same. But maybe what touched me most was the quote:“You’re keeping me at arm’s length because you don’t want to get hurt, don’t want to depend on me and then have me fail you when you need me most.”Just think of the many times we’ve done it in our lives – we withdraw ‘cos we’ve been hurt before. I feel lonely, but we don’t dare to ask for help, ‘cos we’re afraid that we cannot return the favour later on, that the other one may require more. We desperately need love, but at the same time we’ve built stone walls round our hearts and we’re just hoping that someone will come and take them down, someone else will save us from ourselves.Yet, real life is not like that. The others may try to reach us through the walls, but we are the ones that should destroy them and walk ahead. We are the ones to open up our hearts and our souls and grant love, unconditional love to the world, to spread light and love, to be accepting and forgiving. We are the ones to search for redemption. No! Not search – to grant ourselves redemption, to see the light and walk with raised head towards the tomorrow in our lives.Thank you for the book, Story Cartel. With the shrinking markets and the lousy economy, it might not find a publishing house to translate it and distribute it in order to reach the wide audience in my country, but it reached me and it touched me. Very much!

Make your choices carefully By KarmelRead2665 Receive this book for a honest review.I'm really not sure how to rate this book because I'm not sure how it left me feeling. The characters Casey and David had their fair share problems. Casey was the almost perfect wife and mother but was this all she was meant to be? She had dreams that she put to the wayside after she married and had a child. She did not keep up with her friend from school or from her previous job instead she was the PTA mom, lawyer’s wife hostess, volunteer committee person for committee she didn't believe in. Casey had no true balance. She joined groups at the recommendation of her husband to make him happy. Now we were to talk about David we could say that he was a mama's boy, he had no true backbone, he went with what was easiest for him to skate through life on. He was a manipulator, liar, and man who did not take responsibility for any of his actions. He kept Casey around because she was the ideal perfect wife he could manipulate and she supported him in everything that he did without voicing any opposition that was probably one of the truth things he loves about her.Now Andrew has been messed up from the day one. He grew up in a dysfunctional household and has never learned to cope with change and lived in fear of always being left behind should he loved someone. It started with his parents. His mom went into her next relationship that was abusive with a man who didn't want him or his brother. His dad married and had other children were Andrew just always felt like he never had a place. This went on for most of his childhood so he felt that if he loves he always lost even with his friends. The behavior continue with his teenage girl friend who got pregnant and lost the baby he said he could step up and be with her but when she turned her back after she lost the baby , he felt it was another rejection. Andrew did not always make the best choices in his life.In this book you will deal with the woman's who is no longer satisfied with her life, facing the infidelity of her husband, her dissatisfaction with the direction her life is going. A husband who wants the best that life has to offer, whether he can afford it or not, his infidelity towards his wife, his anger at her for not wanting to stay in the town where he was well know and now having to start over. You will meet another man who is still wants a family more than anything in the world but he can't make those lifelong connections based on his parents divorced, childhood of abuse, a life built of making bad decisions, and never addressing any these problems. He will need to deal with post traumatic stress disorder, drinking, his inability to be in a relationship long term and his fear of being like his parents. The title of this book had me thinking this was about the paranormal when in fact it was about life not always being what you wanted. The story was good, the situations were realistic and when you are done it will make you think about the choices you made in life and the ones you let go. The book is definitely a good read for a book club.
