dawning i like how you look in the morning best of all, your face softened by dreaming, your voice softened too, just one or two words— a mumble, a broken egg, my breakfast Chris Dingman graduated summa cum laude from Harvard University with a degree in biology. He has since released three CDs of original music with the band Crooked Roads, optioned a comedy screenplay to Warner Bros., and published two books of poems. The following are excerpts from Amazon reviews of Chris's first collection, the morning i married the sky: "Dingman delivers a wonderfully unexpected treasure trove—from the giddily playful to the sublime." "…fun and delightful to read and frequently thought-provoking as well. I've avoided a lot of poetry before now, but The Morning I Married The Sky has made me smile and I'm quite happier for it." "It gives one a new way of looking at things and new things to think about. … there is substance, humor, and ideas in this book." "Dingman's humor, insight, and open-hearted acceptance of the world in all its wonder provides a refreshing pause to a day." "Loved this book, soulful and wistful and whimsical at the same time. Without an ounce of drama or soppiness! No negativity or torment either! Just Chris's own unique view...he really 'sees' the world and his place in it, and that's exactly what his poems are about. … He imparts an element of contentment to me as I read. Great for those moments of respite, where one sinks into their favorite seat, with a steaming mug on the table next to them." when the plovers fly when the plovers fly low across the salty pond there are two of them, the one and the reflection of the one (from free this morning)

By Kevin Dyer Chris has an eye, and an ear for the sights and sounds the world makes, those that often slip past. He stays attuned for the rest of us. And he communicates the music that is found there, and gives us his clear-eyed (and sharply heard) translations of what most of us let disappear before it even gets here, to where we are. Necessary poems.
