About the Author Megan Chaskey, award-winning poet, musician, educator, Naam yoga teacher, Harmonyum healing practitioner, and holistic life coach, was born in New Mexico in 1956. Megan and her husband, poet and organic farmer, Scott Chaskey-whom she met in England-live in Sag Harbor, New York, where they raised their children, Levin, Rowenna, and Liam.

Megan Chaskey, the author, is an award-winning poet as well as musician, healer, teacher, and Naam yoga practitioner—and these are only some of her creative and spiritual ventures. Born into an educated and artistic family, it’s clear that this environment nourished her own creativity. But it’s also clear that that creativity stems from a much older spiritual journey that has its origins and deeper purpose beyond this world.On the surface, Birdsong Under the Wisdom Tree is a combination of memoir and poetry that takes us through the author’s growth and development as a poet and person, from her girlhood to various roles and adventures as a young and, later, mature woman. In this way, it will speak to many age groups and especially to artists. But the experience of the book is more than its surface content. Rather, it’s like the song of a poet’s soul witnessing and experiencing life in its many facets while never losing her wonder and innocence.This is not a book to rush through. Take your time. Make yourself comfortable. Do whatever you need to do to create the conditions for a sacred and lyrical journey—light a fire, retreat to your garden, sit by the water.
