A lot of the content are things we need to know but, it is more a compilation of the failures of our country than success. More on the liberal tyranny than any leadership. I listen to Mr. Levins radio program and find him to be very informative. He is a very intelligent man and respect his opinion. But this seems like somebody picked up a stack of his notes from his desk and put them together calling it a book without bothering to proof read it.

Lovely woman, always happy, very open and friendly.Who the book is for: She has never mentioned it and I do not believe it was her intent, but I came to the conclusion after reading the book that it is aimed square at the 13 to 18 year old female reader. The younger teens may need adult guidance for a few sections but it is a perfect fit for the 15+ age group. If you are the parent of a teenage girl who is still exploring her place in this world and wending her way through the good and bad which society has to offer, then this book should absolutely be considered for their personal library.Contents: The book contains some scenes that may be a bit harsh for younger readers but most likely nothing they have not seen on television, in the movies or on videos. Tales of family life evoke a sense of trust, loyalty, integrity and family values. Her life in the jungle will bring a sense of adventure and danger to the everyday life of someone living their life vicariously via the authors written words. From the perils of the forest jungles to the dangers of the concrete jungle is a simple transition which Miroslava attains without any break in her narration. And it is the concrete jungle were the worst animals live and hunt; the human animals. How she lived, what she was subjected to and how she survived is a testament to her will to live, survive and persevere against all odds.Her life beyond both jungles continues her journey into areas which many of us have experienced. To imagine where she came from and where she ultimately placed herself shows a resolve which many today do not have. She is a fighter and a survivor, both physically and in a greater sense, emotionally. Her story is an inspiration to all female teens and young women to never give up, have faith in God and above all else,have faith in yourself especially when you are alone. Fight, win,live and thrive. That is the basic message which is her privilege to pass down to others. No matter how bad you think you have it, you can make it better.How the book is written: As far as books go,it is a very short read. Then again, Miroslava gets to the point without having to take a hammer to your head. It is very easy to read with just enough graphic detail to get the point across. In other words, the book is very well edited so that even the most avid to casual reader will not get bored and give up mid way. There are no shockingly big words, no massive paragraphs, no mind blowing ideas; just a one -two punch of a story that gets down to the nitty gritty without all the pomp and fanfare shoved down our throats these days.Conclusion: The book is an inspiration to all in particular to those young ladies just forming their personalities and their views of the world around them. There is more to this beautiful woman than meets the eye By CVHelleri I first saw Miroslava on a FaceBook page and I thought the same thing that every other red blooded male thought, Wow! All I knew was that she was very cute with a very attractive figure and a smile that was incredibly radiant. Since we share common interests and I enjoyed her posts, I began following her FaceBook page. However, it wasn’t until I finally sat down to read her book yesterday, that I realized that it was actually all the things I couldn’t see that make her such a beautiful, impressive and accomplished woman. All I can say is, Wow! Most people would probably assume that being so attractive has made her life easy, but they would never have guessed in a million years what she has been through in her life. She started from literally nothing and faced adversities that would surely have claimed the lives of lesser determined women. Her story is a very personal one and must have been very painful to share. I believe it was her passion to empower young women to never give up and to always fight to better themselves that made it possible to tell her story. It is for these women that the story will really hit home. I read it with great interest and felt a range of emotions ranging from laughter to tears of sadness. I highly recommend this book.

Standland Intriguing and captivating... with a keen sense of irony and Karma mixed in at the right moments to offer a fulfilling life lesson in the trials, tribulations, and triumphs of the Little Amazonian from Panama, Miroslava Espinosa. As much as I enoy reading in the evenings, I usually have difficulty doing so because after about 20 to 25 pages I'm dozing off... but not with this book. It kept me wanting to know what was going to happen in the next chapter. James Patterson eat your heart out.Written in a form where it can appeal to both younger and adult readers, it relays Miroslava's surreal, personal saga of hard life lessons, emotional upheavals, life threatening health scares, and her satisfying, dramatic victories that offer a positive lesson for all of us to understand... that you never give up, no matter how many mistakes you make or how tough the obstacles are Life presents you with."Life is a journey, not a destination", and that's the great moral portrayed in The Little Amazonian.

About the Author Rebecca Cleary is a freelance memoirist and poet living on Whidbey Island, Washington with her dog and two cats. Insatiably curious intellectually since childhood, Rebecca received a bachelor of arts degrees in mathematics and secondary education with a concentration in psychology from Lindenwold College, St. Charles, MO in the spring of 1969. Marriage followed the following December. Three daughters arrived over the next six years. Her oldest daughter’s learning disability shifted her aspirations for a teaching career into research and advocacy for her daughter and others with learning differences. She tutored and supported her daughter through grade school, high school, and college. Volunteer work at her daughters’ Catholic high school brought her into dissonance with the Catholic bishops’ refusal to allow HIV/AIDs education to Catholic school students and launched her into activist feminism within the Church. Her unquenchable desire to learn led her into a search for the historical Jesus, in-depth historical/critical Biblical studies, ongoing psycho-spiritual exploration, and graduate studies in theology at a Catholic seminary in Washington DC. The constant bass rhythm to these activities was conscientious and unflagging support to her husband's career path from junior auditor to president of a major hotel and hospitality company. While at seminary Rebecca became spiritual companion to Stacey, a young woman living with a terminal neurological illness. Thus began another learning curve into body-mind connection and healing as well as the spiritual dimensions of health and transformation. Following a reluctantly requested divorce from her husband of 30 years in 2001, Rebecca embarked upon PhD studies in Women's Spirituality at the California Institute for Integral Studies in San Francisco. In 2004, Rebecca became committed life partner to Stacey, who had defied all odds and survived into her fifth remission. Stacey left this physical incarnation in March 2014. Rebecca’s adventures of ongoing transformation and awakening continue to this day. Passionate about our human life journeys and her profound belief that each of us is a spiritual being having a human experience, Rebecca seeks to recount and share significant moments of her life out of a deep desire to strengthen the web of interconnection and engagement among all life in the Universe, empowering women’s voices and agency in particular. Memoir and soul-centered reflective poetry are her tools.

The reader becomes part of a chosen circle who recognize and cherish the Sacred in human life, and are therefore privileged to receive and hold these poems.“Liminal” is a gorgeous mini-memoir. Rebecca takes us with her on a chronological/spiritual journey as her wounded psyche and her languishing spirit develop into Wholeness and Wisdom. In one section we get to watch as Rebecca dips a toe into a poetry retreat at a silent monastery. Later we explore the sacred labyrinth meditation, over several days in Chartres Cathedral, and find profound new meanings with her. We hear only two poems in another section, when her experience of Mystery School turns out to be “not for me.” And it feels as if the reader gets to repay Rebecca's unflinching honesty somewhat by holding her hand as she explores the loss of her Beloved, fearlessly but not without cost.This is a book filled with, in Rebecca’s words, “Tales unvoiced/Disallowed and discredited/Too dangerous/To loose into a world/Hell-bent on keeping them/Buried and invisible//Their courage/Moves from cell to pen/As I tell my story . . .”Which poem is my favorite? Is it the courageous “Aspie,” or “Résumé (in which I see my own story), or the lovely “Quiet,” or the powerful “Sea Cruise”? I think my favorite of all Rebecca Cleary’s beautiful poems in this volume is the richly-told story, “Monsieur Le Troubadour.” Every reader will find some unexpected favorite, just over the turn of a page in this, Rebecca’s first collection of poems. May there be many more to follow.

The work is reminiscent of the Sufi poet Rumi.Rebecca's poems speak simply, and deeply, to everyone who is in transition, who is doubting, or who has had a brush with magic and faith. "Invitation from the Heart of the Universe" was one of my favorites, along with "Indigenous Wisdom."Her imagery is powerful and transporting, taking readers from a cathedral in France to a PNW backyard: "The floating dance of winged birds / Gliding and soaring / Over slate black rooftops / Which peek in and out / Between the treetop waltz."The thread that carries this collection of poetry is Rebecca's finger on the pulse of the Universe. You need this book, and you'll immediately think of three friends who need to read it.

Reading Nina's story really puts things into perspective. By the time I finished the book (I couldn't put it down) I felt like I was part of the family. Nina is to be admired for her fight to survive and her family will make you wanna be a better person.

Dr. Holland said of it, several years later, in his Life of Lincoln, "A singularly faithful statement of the early experience of Abraham Lincoln." The materials for the Campaign Life spoken of were furnished by Mr. Lincoln, and he very kindly directed that pamphlet, with a quantity of unused matter, to be passed into our hands, together with the names and addresses of several of his early associates, reared with him in the wilderness, and of intimate friends in later life, from whom the most valuable information, never before given to the public, was received. Forced to fend for herself, Lily is in too deep, and she finds herself in financial trouble, surrounded by people she’s not sure she can trust. Some seem reliable, but others …Relationships aren’t her forte either, but in order to satisfy her deceased father’s wish for her to marry and settle down, Lily ventures out into a world she is ill-equipped to navigate, encountering a variety of struggles that force her to look deep into herself. Sometimes she wins, and sometimes she loses, but the stress is too great, and soon she starts to see ghosts … or is she losing her mind?At times sad, poignant, disturbing and amusing, this tale set in the rural New England of yesteryear is coupled with the stark, beautiful background of farming life, creating a compelling atmosphere in which to explore the grittiness of a life uncensored. Wong doesn’t pull any punches when dealing with family issues, so I’d say this book is not for the faint of heart. However, Lily’s struggles, family life, and the dark secret that defines her make for compelling reading.

By Masheri Chappelle PURPLE TREES AMAZON REVIEWLet me first begin by saying I didn’t want the book to end. I wanted more! As dysfunctional and off kilter as Lily, the main character was I wanted to stay in her world longer just to make sure that when I walked away I knew Lily was in a happier place. Don’t worry I’m not telling you the ending, or too much about the story line. There will be no spoiler alerts here.Ms. Wong opens with a machine gun blast of activity and exposition. Once you adjust to the story of Lily’s life, something else happens. Actually her life seems to happen just a little too fast, but for Lily, life was happening too fast. But that’s what how life feels when you’re young like Lily, and are being bombarded with adult issues. Before we know it Lily is an adult, married to Will Phelps, and embarking on a new life as a farmer’s wife.Ms. Wong does a credible job of carving out a tantalizing slice of small town Americana. Lily’s world is nothing fancy, but it is a place where everybody knows everybody, and despite the town feeling commercially barren, you want to stay and visit if only to gawk at the obvious desolation. This is one town Wal Mart never found, and thank goodness for that!Lily’s town feels like its own country. Rarely does the author take the reader outside of it. We’re stuck in that little town along with Lily and her family. Even those that make it out are somehow drawn back. As a reader I got comfortable with “staying put” and visiting with all the locals. I longed to sit at their tables with a cup of tea, and even help Will and Lily milk the cows.Ms.Wong’s writing is terse, taut, and exact. She takes the reader where she wants them to go, and shows them what they need to see. Her handling of Lily’s childhood trauma is honestly brutal. While I knew what was coming, the reveal of Lily’s secret was still a good slap in the face.Ms. Wong’s handling of spirits was very believable. (I’m a psychic/medium and that’s pretty much how it happens.) Those moments with spirits were woven seamlessly into the storyline, so that they were never jarring or noticeably out of place. However, I would have like a more revealing visit with her mother.Overall, Purple Trees was a great read; one that I didn’t want to put down. I definitely would like another slice of Ms. Wong and Lily’s American pie, even if Lily forgets to put sugar in it.

Ursula Wong had her reader hooked from the first few pages of her novel, “Purple Trees.” The book begins in the present day, but that isn’t where the story truly takes place. Lily’s granddaughter, Angie, creates a subplot for the real story as Grandma Lily recounts her earlier years. She explains to her granddaughter the story of the family’s complicated history and feels she can only answer her questions through her personal story.Angie is afraid that she is similar to Grandma Lily and shares in her ability to see the dead. Lily has a painful past and a heart breaking secret that she feels Angie needs to know.I was drawn to Lily’s story as Ursula Wong recounted her character’s history. Just as you were getting somewhere, finding out some important details, she moved the timeframe back to present day. This propelled me as a reader to turn the pages faster as I looked for answers.I loved how she developed her characters, giving well thought out life to each of them. I could smell the smoke on Lily’s father’s shirt and I could picture myself watching each of the characters as they moved about the story.What began as a small wrinkle in the story line eventually opened up into a scarring truth that was filtered into the chapters of the novel. For me the brutal honesty was appreciated and understood, but it became difficult to read at times. Ursula hit home some truly painful details with great honesty, but the topic is never easy to discuss.I loved the story and found myself reading it very quickly, unable to put it down during the early morning hours before a busy day at work. My only quam with the novel was the genre. I wasn’t quite sure where the target audience would lie. Although the character was a young adult at times, she grew and changed. From a narrator standpoint she is a grandmother, which blurs the line between young adult and women’s fiction. With a little more direction I think Ursula Wong could promote this book to a larger audience and the writing is truly worthy of more readers.I will be looking forward to more of Ursula Wong's novels.
