When Dr. Mark Baker and Nurse Kelly Atkinson are held at the mercy of a dangerous gunman, the lives of every emergency room patient are at stake. At the end of the evening three men are dead. One of them is a police officer who couldn't be saved despite Mark's best efforts. The other two are members of the feared Zeta drug cartel. Though the standoff is over, the killing is not, because when the drug cartel loses its members, revenge is not far behind. Facing an adversary whose desires are dark and efforts are ruthless, Mark finds himself under suspicion as a killer, yet still a potential victim. When he turns to his high school sweetheart, attorney Gwen Woodruff, for help, Kelly helplessly looks on, as she hides her own feelings for the good doctor. At the height of the conflict, three questions remain: Who is the shooter? Who will the next victim be? And can Mark prove his innocence before the gun turns on him?

Review "...Very intense action... The characters are strongly developed..." Romantic Times Book Reviews (4 stars)"Fatal Trauma asks big questions of faith, priorities, and meaning all within the context of a tightly crafted medical drama."--best-selling author Steven James "Mabry doesn't overload the novel with too much medical terminology.... He keeps readers looking for clues, trying to finger the culprit... (Recommended for) those looking for a good, clean, soul-searching murder mystery." CBA Retailers + Resources Magazine

Fatal Trauma - Great Mystery/Thriller By Laura Hix Dr. Mark Baker and Kelly Atkinson are found in the ER during the opening scene, trying to save the life of a Zeta drug cartel member, however they fail. Also losing the life of police officer Ed Purvis as he put his life on the line also trying to protect so many, is Fatal Trauma by Richard L. Mabry, MDThis book never slows down from hereAt the risk of sounding like a clichés'. This book has it all, espionage, murder, accusatory policemen, love, and everything else that keeps you on the edge of your seat, Did Mark and Key murder someone? Or is someone trying to set them up for murder? This book will stay in a "clean read" catagory for me based on no sexual content, the language was very appropriate. While the violence is not described other than in medical terms usually, there is a lot of violence implied. So that alone might tturn some away from this book. However, the implications of violence are so brief in each aspect of it, it is easy to get by it.The one constant in this book is that several people rely on their relationship with Christ however the author never takes the time to build any single character's relationship with Christ, in a grand way. It's usually always an after thought. That is disappointing to me because I was expecting more. While this one thing was disappointing I can honestly recommend this book!I mean, how can you get through a day without calling on Christ when you are accused of murder, people are trying to murder you and you are losing so much also. The only Bible reference is Roman's 8:28Romans 8:28. `And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to His purpose for themRichard L. Mabry, MD has put together a very good mystery/thriller and he is an author I will be reading more of his work. This was a basically clean read, except for the things I have commented on so far. I loved the medical facts being used, in every aspect. I mean from the correct dosages of medications to the exact terminology of a procedure or medical instrument. I also loved that he explained the things that may have been difficult to understand,Fatal Trauma

By Stacey First, I would like to extend a heartfelt “Thank you” to Dr. Richard Mabry and his publisher for sending me a copy of "Fatal Trauma" to review for them. I am truly grateful for this generosity. I really appreciate the time, effort and expense it takes to make a reviewer copy available to me.“Fatal Trauma” by Richard Mabry is not my favorite Mabry novel. First, let me address what I enjoyed about the book: It is circumstantially suspenseful, and I always learn about the medical profession and terminology when I read Mabry’s work. I loved the thread of faith that was prominent throughout the novel that encouraged me that God uses imperfect people and He is a God of second chances. What I didn’t care for were the characters. They often seemed mechanical and detracted from a well-crafted plot. The dialogue seemed forced in many instances. The “love triangle” felt manufactured. All that said, I would still recommend this book. Overall, I enjoyed it. And I encountered a valuable concept that I apparently haven’t learned, yet: we all make mistakes, but God offers grace and forgiveness. If we are to look like Jesus, we must offer grace and forgiveness to those who wrong us. Honestly, this lesson made the book a “must read” in my opinion. Thank you, Dr. Mabry.

Curnutt What happens when you are an emergency room doctor whose life's mission is to serve those who are sick and injured but the patient that just came in has a gun totting relative who is threatening to kill everyone if you let his brother die? The first problem is this, the brother is DOA from several gunshots, so how can you save someone who is dead? That is what Dr. Mark Baker and Nurse Kelly Atkinson faced in the opening scene of this novel. Their solution was interesting but also traumatic for many people. It also sets the stage for the tension throughout the novel. The brothers were part of a drug cartel who will decide that everyone involved in treating the patient and letting him die will also need to die. That puts targets on our two main characters. How will this resolve. Also, there is a love triangle of sorts, involving Dr. Baker, Nurse Atkinson and another doctor from the hospital. But the question will stand out with, what will happen? Who loves whom and will they get together? Then add to that the religious aspect of searching happening by Dr. Baker. He accepted Christ at a young age, but he has drifted for years. Nurse Atkinson is not drifting, she has a vibrant faith in God. Others in the story are drifting, lost or walking with Christ. The author takes the theme of salvation, peace in Christ, trust and obedience and weaves them into the story line. All this to say that the book has lots of good content and things that you can take and talk through with others as you like. So, why only 4 stars? That's a good question. I guess it's because of all the death, killing and distrust that happens throughout the story. I know that is true human nature, but I guess I just didn't like the drug cartel having the mindset of killing everyone off. I guess I have just gotten to use to the happily ever after scenarios. This book will definitely have some twists and turns that you won't see coming.Enjoy!
