If you like the following English versions of some of the poems in this book, you will LOVE the Kapampangan versions! I’VE MURDERED SOMEONE Friends and town mates, I have something to confess I've murdered someone not too long ago I do not recall if I killed him with one single blow Or cut him into pieces and tossed him like a dress Even when he was gasping and was about to die I covered his mouth and choked him, he had no defense my anger for him grew exceedingly intense he had no right to live under this big blue sky He slithered on the ground just like a slimy worm His timidness made him an easy prey He had no strength, no right to see another day He had no courage he should not have been born I killed the boy I once was To become the man I am today I HAVE A SICKNESS Two hours had passed after the loving You peacefully lay in bliss But inside me, a desire that is throbbing Since birth I have been burdened by this a desire that through the bones is piercing a desire that persistently itches It is not my fault God knows well too I was born and will die this way He knows I never wanted to hurt you I've loved you from the very first day It is better if I never loved you I'm a doormat; you're a star in the Milky Way That's why we won’t see this through Now close to midnight I'll go quietly by And I may not come back this time Eleven times I have said goodbye And ten times I've changed my mind While I head to the door, you look so peaceful In bed I watch your face so sweet I don’t deserve your love so great and full But you can’t make me complete I wander through the night like I don’t belong The comfort I seek, drugs can't give My sickness is a cross I carry along My distressed soul looks for relief My sickness is PSAS/PGAD It has no cure my doctor says so I learned yesterday, my God there's a baby in me! Whose child this is, I will never know BALDO FROM MY BARRIO Baldo from my barrio, everybody liked him Known for his kindness that overflowed to the brim Barrio San Anton, that’s where he was known to dwell Whatever he did, he did extremely well He was used to hard work, when not tilling the land He would be cutting logs with an ax in his hand When not planting seeds, he was harvesting crop He repaired the roadways whenever potholes popped At the break of day he was ready to work Smoking and drinking were never his quirk That was how he won his wife's loud acclaim his three children adored him just the same When it came to giving he was number one He never forgot the poor of San Anton A formal education he failed to attain He would have been voted the Barrio Captain Yes there aren’t many people you’d come to know As gentle and sharing as big-hearted Baldo His body was healthy and he had a sound mind He seemed like a gift to the troubled mankind That's why people were baffled that one stormy night when he gave his loved ones a sick and twisted plight So ruthlessly he axed them, left them dead on the floor And then he hanged himself behind the kitchen door LOST IN TIME WITH YOU It was your first time and you told me so but I did not even care cause I love you so much just by looking at you I feel a joy beyond compare Last week in New England with the strength of our love you tried to take me in and I knew there was pain though you tried not to show the quiver in your skin In your office yesterday when everyone was gone I offered the joy you've known so far when I looked at you your face turned rosy red.....

The book arrived 8 days after I ordered it and after reading just a few of the poems in their English versions, WOW the author has a way with words. I am thinking of ordering a few more, for myself and as x-mas gifts for other friends.
