1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Hard to find history of the first NW Explorers By Lyle A. Lariviere Contains a lot of hard to find history of the first explorers of Northwest Canada and the U.S. including detailed descriptions of the routes traveled, the hardships faced, and the character of the men who explored the far west before Lewis and Clark. Little known facts about the first exploration of far northwest region of Canada up to the Bering Sea and out to the Pacific Ocean via the Canadian Rivers before Lewis and Clark are provided in well documented accounts of their almost daily progress. Also included are accounts of lessor known explorers that opened the country to later adventurers and early fur trading with the Indians. The last third of the book becomes a long read with little interest to the NW history buff.
