Thomas W. Case is in your face and pulling no punches with his second collection of poetry: Artichokes, Avocados, and Van Gogh. There's a gritty, seedier side of life that most people can somehow relate to but choose not to explore; the author puts it out there with blunt force. Themes such as grief, loss, love, relationships, and homelessness, all fueled by alcoholic adventures, are presented in a Bukowski-esque fashion. You'll laugh, but you may also shudder. Yet you can't help cheering him on as he strongly hints at a sense of desperation, a perpetual longing to escape the chaos. Thomas W. Case was born in Oxnard, California. He grew up in Des Moines, Iowa and currently resides in Iowa City where he continues to write poetry and short stories. Previous publications include, The Bullfrog Dreams of Flying (2005) and five poems in Lyrical Iowa between 2004 and 2013. He was published twice in Poetry in Public Project Iowa City, and is the winner of several spoken word competitions.

Just Add Your Own Dog-Eared Pages, Wine Stains, Cigarette Burns and Strange Reading Scenarios By Kalli A Terrell "Artichokes, Avocados, and Van Gogh" is just one of 76 poems Thomas W. Case has assembled in his most recent collection of poetic phrases, witty quips, and ego-zingers about the aftermath of life's doozies. These poems are the anthems of life. You will gobble them up and they will spit you out. These poems will haunt your day dreams. The parts of your day you spent wondering if you had lived life fully enough will be etched by the memory of having read them and you will reflect upon them in random moments of your everyday for the rest of your life. A casual glance at any line of any page of this book will have you captive to their realm and you won't be able to unread them. You don't need a good memory, you don't even have to pay attention, but you will always remember having read these poems.

By Amazon Customer The poetry of Thomas Case offers concrete, poetic details that will draw readers to the very spot where “the dog broke open the bone and licks the marrow out” or “There were kittens in /the wall shadows tall and hot/and I was well-versed in delirium” or “give me lazy lithium days, soft asylum, Cheshire madness”. He is using his pen as a sword to cut through past experiences and shape them into art. The poems are honest, as real poems must be, and readers have only to gain through this poet’s “hours of pocketknife afternoons”. He writes live, live, live for tomorrow will come with a sigh.

Why is Stephen Girard, a figure from late Colonial America, important today? As a teenager, he left home in Bordeaux, France with meager funds and went to sea as a merchant marine, following his family's tradition. In early summer, 1776, he landed in Philadelphia when a British blockade forced his ship into the city's Delaware River port. With his extraordinary intelligence and with an ability to foresee market trends and grasp the mysteries of international trade, he remained in Philadelphia and became an American citizen. By the early eighteen hundreds he had become the richest man in America. Is this reason enough to pay closer attention to Girard? Why don't American History textbooks mention him? As the first private banker in America, he should be counted among our Founding Fathers. He labored tirelessly and unselfishly during Philadelphia's 1793 yellow fever epidemic, risking his life caring for the sick, sometimes performing the most repulsive tasks. Most wealthy Philadelphians had left the city. In 1811, Great Britain increased its harassment of American ships. Girard put his entire fortune into the hands of the US Treasury to wage war once again with a country that refused to accept America as a sovereign nation. He proved himself a courageous philanthropist and a great patriot. The War of 1812, an American success, forever freed the country from subservience to England. When Girard died in 1831, thousands of Philadelphians showed their love and respect for him. He left most of his fortune to the City of Philadelphia and to founding an institution for poor orphans--Girard College, opening its doors to students in 1848. President Truman visited the college for its centennial in 1948 to honor this remarkable man--a man who walked the streets with Washington, Jefferson and Adams and had flags made by Betsy Ross.

Stephen Girard, America's Colonial Olympian, 1750-1831, by James J. Raciti

Review ''This book is a must read for all those who have any affiliation with Girard College, for it provides invaluable insight into the motivations of Stephen Girard, the first major philanthropist in the United States. James J. Raciti, a graduate of Girard College class of 1951, has produced a fascinating and informative biography of Stephen Girard. In deference to younger Girardians, who may wish to read this book, the author employs a Socratic dialogue for 75% of the text. This format is similar to the dialogues of the ancient Greek philosopher Socrates with his students. Each of 18 chapters consists of a series of specific questions and answers relevant to the life and times of Stephen Girard. The reveal new and fascinating details of all stages of Girard's life including his unhappy childhood in southern France; his financial successes as a mariner, merchant, banker and eventually a farmer; his community services during the Yellow Fever epidemic; his financing of the federal government during the War of 1812; his death in Philadelphia at age 81.

''The dialogues are most engaging, for they inform the reader of Girard's activities and motivations as he dealt with his family members, employees, business colleagues and local and federal government officials in both France and a newly established United States of America. Perhaps most salient for all those affiliated with Girard College in the past and today are the descriptions of Girard's emerging views over a three-decade period that led to the specification of the educational philosophy, the effective management strategies of a 24/7 boarding school environment, the comprehensive academic curriculum, and even the physical plant of the school enabled by his generous entitlements.

''By examining the source materials in both the extensive archives at Girard College and in southern France, Raciti is able to provide backgrounds that have not been included in the many earlier biographies of Stephen Girard. For example, he discusses in several chapters the relationship between Girard and his siblings. Many family members attempted to convince him that he should share his accumulating wealth with relatives. Girard steadfastly refused, feeling that each person should strive, as did he, to become self-sufficient and to support his/her immediate family members. However, when the children of several siblings were left destitute, Girard provided funds for their support, including their education in France and Philadelphia. Furthermore, Girard took into his residence the children of colleagues and employees and provided them both a supportive home and an appropriate education. Raciti reports that Girard enjoyed having young people in his home environment.

''Perhaps the most engaging section of this book is Appendix 1, entitled 'Stephen's Twilight Visitors: A Fictional Dramatization of Stephen Girard's Last Evening.' In a radical departure from the standard format for an academic biography, Raciti provides in this appendix a series of hypothetical interactions between Stephen Girard on his deathbed and the spirits of several of his contemporaries, including his parents, his siblings, his wife, Mary, and such luminaries as Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, and George Washington.

''Finally, all these hypothetical and biographical materials are preceded in this book by a letter from Raciti to Stephen Girard in which he writes about his experiences as a student at Girard College from elementary through high school graduation. He briefly describes the staff, the curricula and the physical plant. Throughout the letter, Raciti repeats his gratitude to Stephen Girard for his donation of the bulk of his substantial financial resources to creating the educational opportunities that have now benefited thousands of students over more than 150 years.'' ----Hugh F. ''Tony'' Cline, Steel & Garnet magazine, March 2016

About the Author James J. Raciti, PhD is a graduate of Girard College and is a direct beneficiary of Stephen Girard's legacy. He has spent more than twenty-five years in Europe as a university educator. His graduate degrees in comparative literature are from the University of Grenoble in France and the University of Zaragoza in Spain. Raciti, PhDThis book is a must read for all those who have admired the lives and accomplishments of our nation’s Founding Fathers. It provides invaluable insight into the activities and motivations of Stephen Girard, the first major philanthropist in the United States, one who has been mostly ignored by historians who focus on the early decades of the Republic. James J. Raciti, a 1951graduate of Girard College, the boarding school established by Girard in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, has produced a fascinating and informative biography. In deference to younger persons, who may wish to read this book, the author has introduced a fascinating Socratic dialogue for 75% of the text. This format is similar to the dialogues between the ancient Greek philosopher Socrates and his students. Each of 18 chapters consists of a series of specific questions and answers relevant to the life and times of Stephen Girard. They reveal new and fascinating details of all stages of Girard’s life including his unhappy childhood in Southern France; his financial successes as a mariner, merchant, banker, and eventually a farmer; his community services during the Yellow Fever epidemic; his financing of the federal government during War of 1812; and his death in Philadelphia at age 81.The dialogues are most engaging, for they reveal the multidimensional personality of Girard and his motivations as he dealt with his family members, employees, business colleagues, and local and federal government officials in his adoptive country as well as in France, including a jovial repartee with Joseph Bonaparte. Perhaps most salient for all those interested in past and contemporary educational practices are the descriptions of Girard’s emerging views over a three decade period that led to the specification of the educational philosophy, the effective management strategies of a boarding school environment, the comprehensive academic curriculum, and even the design of the physical plant of the school enabled by his generous entitlements.By examining source materials in both the extensive archives at Girard College and in southern France, Raciti is able to provide backgrounds that have not been included in the many earlier biographies of Stephen Girard. Furthermore, Girard took into his residence the children of colleagues and employees and provided them a supportive home as well as an appropriate education. Raciti reports that Girard enjoyed having young people in his home environment. In other sections of this biography Raciti reveals Girard’s philanthropic spirit in voluntarily managing the hospital for victims during the Yellow Fever in 1793, negotiating the major loan that financed the War of 182, and over a 25 year period providing care and a comfortable apartment in the Pennsylvania Hospital for his mentally ill wife, Mary. Raciti reports that Girard privately shed tears at Mary’s funeral. Perhaps the most engaging section of this book is Appendix 1, entitled Stephen’s Twilight Visitors: A Fictional Dramatization of Stephen Girard’s Last Evening. In a radical departure from the standard format for an academic biography, Raciti provides readers the option of believing that Girard’s high fever created hallucinatory conversations on his deathbed with the spirits of several of his contemporaries, including his parents, his siblings, his wife, Mary, and such luminaries as Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, and George Washington. Finally, all these hypothetical and biographical materials are preceded in this book by a letter from Raciti to Stephan Girard in which he writes about his experiences as a student at Girard College from elementary through high school graduation. A respected therapist and addictions specialist shares the powerful story of her own recovery from sexual addiction. In this intensely personal account, Staci Sprout traces her journey from the painful world of sexual intrigue and addiction into a life of healing and purpose. She was an honors student and cheerleader, and later a gifted young social worker. But her life had a dark twist that even her closest friends didn’t suspect. Childhood sexual abuse and exposure to pornography had ignited a drive to be sexual that eventually threatened to unravel her sanity and her life. Desperate for relief, she tried psychotherapy, hypnotism, bodywork, and traditional and pagan spirituality. Nothing helped until a near-death experience became a turning point and she found her way into the rooms of 12-Step recovery for sex addiction. With sensitivity and compelling detail, Sprout writes as a compassionate insider about a world most have never seen: intimate gatherings of men and a few women determined to heal from the sickness that was ruining their lives. Eventually free of compulsive sexual behavior, Sprout concentrates on making things right with those she’s harmed, and on discovering what healthy romance and sexuality might look like. What she eventually finds is beyond her wildest dreams. This book is for all those who wonder if their story will ever have a happy ending. Naked in Public is a gripping account of a woman who refuses to give up in her fight for dignity and freedom. The wisdom that emerges will be both a roadmap and an inspiration to anyone, male or female, who struggles with sexual addiction — and to their loved ones. "Naked in Public is a powerful and inspiring story that speaks to the courage that underlies recovery from childhood sexual abuse, sexual shame and sex addiction. In this memoir, Staci Sprout truly 'leads with vulnerability.'” — Claudia Black, Ph.D., author of "Intimate Treason" and “It Could Never Happen to Me!" "With this work, Staci Sprout has provided a much-needed voice for female sex addicts, who far too often are shamed into silence. Her highly personalized account of sexual addiction and the process of recovery is incredibly powerful. Sex addicts of both genders will easily identify with her story. Most importantly, Staci provides a clear example of how sex addicts, especially female sex addicts, can and do heal from this debilitating disorder. Family members of sex addicts and those who treat sex addicts will also benefit from reading this book. Highly recommended!" — Robert Weiss LCSW, CSAT-S, author of "Always Turned On: Sex Addiction in the Digital Age," "Cruise Control: Understanding Sex Addiction in Gay Men," and "Sex Addiction 101: A Basic Guide to Healing from Sex, Porn, and Love Addiction"

Naked in Public: A Memoir of Recovery From Sex Addiction and Other Temporary Insanities, by Staci Sprout

Review Throughout Naked in Public, Sprout writes with an open, honest, and highly compassionate voice. Because of this, the book is both compelling and enjoyable to read...the most important aspect of Naked in Public is that it presents a very real and much needed look at the pain and darkness of female sexual compulsivity, coupled with an equally real and necessary message of hope. Staci Sprout's story is proof positive that recovery, healing, and a better life are possible. --Rob Weiss, LCSW, CSAT-S, Psychology Today

Poetry. "In this spectacular debut collection, Brenda Yates reminds us that "bodily" knowledge is also a worldly knowledge—that is, an understanding of our own shifting circumstances—as well as a recognition, a true knowing, of our transience upon this earth. These poems are resplendent with praise for the world's bounty and yet equally compassionate for our daily failings. With the power and richness of song, Brenda Yates' poems ask the questions that accompany those answers every body fears to know."—David St. John "Brenda Yates' brilliance: a disarming, absolutely forthright telling of the world's sorrows and its innumerable, itinerant joys. With a naturalist's eye Yates builds poems from botany, genetics, philosophy, history, astronomy, anthropology—awedriven poems, each image lifted and illuminated by its inveighing loss, 'no / period, no exclamation to indicate the end of something, / just one foot in front of the other as always, on the way / to this place—a sidewalk after work, heading home.' Her poems will last for generations to come. They are universal. One never tires re-reading them.

After hitting rock bottom through addiction, bowling legend Bob Perry learned that religion is for people who don't want to go to hell. Spirituality is for people who have already been there. Perry tells his heart-wrenching, inspiring story of bowling for the mob and drug and alcohol addiction in his new book, Redemption Alley.

Perry, considered by many to be one of the most naturally-talented bowlers in the history of the sport, had potential to become one of the best even at the young age of 12. Unfortunately, he grew up in 1970's Paterson, New Jersey, where everyone knew someone who was "connected"-with the mob, that is. Instead of training for championships, Perry began doing odd jobs for wiseguys and hustling hundreds of thousands of dollars in after-house "action bowling" for John Gotti, who later became the boss of the Gambino crime family.

Perry's connections with organized crime eventually landed him in federal prison, but not before he became addicted to crack cocaine, alcohol, and painkillers and was homeless on the streets of New York. Ultimately, Perry washed up on the shores of St. Christopher's Inn, a shelter run by Franciscan monks. It was there that he had six fateful encounters with an angelic messenger who no one else could see-a monk whose message was so powerful that Bob Perry has now been sober for 22 years.

In Redemption Alley, Perry not only shares his remarkable story of bowling success, his dangerous association with hoodlums and gangsters, and his recovery from addiction, but also his inspiring, decades-long spiritual quest, and his sober journey back into the bowling world.

Redemption Alley: How I Lived to Bowl Another Frame, by Bob Perry (Purzycki), Stefan Bechtel

Review

“There is an underworld in bowling that is as dark, deep and mysterious as anything in sport. Redemption Alley isn't just a book about knocking down pins; it's a narrative of hope that will strike at your heart. I, put simply, love this book.” ―Lars Anderson, bestselling author of The Storm and the Tide and Carlisle vs. Army

“Bob Perry's walk down the alley of addiction is a mythic, epic tale of the light of extraordinary potential snuffed out by a brain hijacked by drugs and alcohol. He rises from the depths of desperation and a seemingly hopeless state to bask in the light of recovery and grace. This deeply inspiring story carries the message that there really is no hole too deep.” ―Harry Haroutunian, MD Physician Director Betty Ford Center

“One thing that I've always stressed to my players is the importance of never giving up, no matter what. Bob Perry's life is a testament to that. Summoning the strength within himself to persevere against impossible odds, Bob emerged a champion. If I had 22 kids with his heart and resolve, we'd never lose a game.” ―Mike London, Head Football Coach, University of Virginia

“This isn't a movie, because it's real. This isn't fiction, because it bleeds truth on every page. This is the journey of a one-time child bowling prodigy who sank to the bottom of life's darkest whirlpool and then, through sheer determination and guts, swam back toward the light. It is one hell of a book.” ―Jerry Izenberg, columnist emeritus, The Star Ledger

By Clifford Nordquist A person with an incredible talent is so very rare, we'll never know what might of been if Bob hadn't had those two horrific accidents... Earl Anthony called Bob the greatest bowler in the world... If the right people, the real deal people get behind a motion picture about Bob's life it will be a blockbuster, I have no doubt about it, it will be incredible because his life and his talent is incredible... It's what makes great movies... Spielberg, DiNiro, Eastwood, where are YOU... This book is out and out great, it has it all and the ending is fantastic, almost unbelievable but true... I couldn't put it down...check out this video about Bob winning the high roller... [...] Brooklyn Butch aka Clifford Nordquist Sr.

Amazing grace By logodaedalus WOW--this is not simply a sports memoir, or a recovery memoir, or an autobiography about riches to rags and back--it is much more than all of that! Sure, Bob's bowling career did see some incredible feats (back-to-back-to-back perfect games while drunk!!!), but his talents are the occasion for his rich relections on what life's all about. The scene where John Gotti breaks Bob's face . . . his many near-death experiences . . .his nauseatingly inevitable descent into addiction and alcoholism . . . these are page-turners. And his comeback in the Super Bowler High Roller is the stuff of Hollywood endings! But what I enjoyed most was Bob's wisdom about God's grace, without which there would be no redemption and no alley. To stay clean and sober for twenty-three years after living on the street is a miracle. This book is not only exciting . . . it's a reminder that we're all in this together.Stefan Bechtel (author of the beautifully-written _Roar of the Heavens_ Roar of the Heavens: Surviving Hurricane Camille does such a great job capturing Bob's wiseass/wiseguy voice. And the descriptions of Seventies fashion are fantastic. This book will make your heart soar. Redemption Alley will make your heart soar. And Bob's journey from crest to trough and back again will encourage you not to give up on your dreams.

5 of 5 people found the following review helpful. A real 'page turner"! By Lawrence I could not put this book down; once started, I just wanted to keep on reading! The episodes of late-night 'action bowling,' where tens of thousands of $$ in bets are put at risk between colorful characters like "Ruby Red" and John Gotti, when the young, brash, gifted Bob Perry steps up to the line--wow! These episodes are as vivid as movie scenes. Author Stefan Bechtel does a terrific job conveying Bob Perry's inimitable way of talking. His "voice" is so strong, so interesting, so peppered with a certain regional dialect, so personal, and so insightful at times--that you feel like you're across a table from him, listening in amazement, rather than reading of his life in a book. And does Bob Perry ever "hit the skids"! You can't believe anybody could survive--and yet he did, in quite a miraculous way, which included some very difficult work on his part, with vital help from AA. Altogether, Bowling for the Mob is a real "page turner"!

The Effect of Moonlight on Tombstones: A Dark Little Collection of Poetry, by Della Van Hise

About the Author Della Van Hise is a native of Florida, transplanted to California at the age of 21, who has subsequently sunk her roots into the high desert near Joshua Tree National Park. She has not personally seen any aliens since around 1992, but there is rumored to be a secret UFO base underneath her house. Della's writing started around age 11 on an old Smith Corona typewriter. No, not an electric one. A real antique, made of metal and heavier than a wet coffin. Her first professional novel was best-selling KILLING TIME - the controversial Star Trek novel which was recalled and re-edited in 1984 (making the first edition a rare collector's item) - and which was the foundational plot for the STAR TREK "Reboot" movie. Della has written extensively in the non-fiction genre, with titles such as QUANTUM SHAMAN and SCRAWLS ON THE WALLS OF THE SOUL. "Quantum Shaman" focuses heavily on the author's metaphysical explorations and experiences, while "Scrawls" is a continuation of those journeys many years later. If you enjoyed the works of Carlos Castaneda or Don Miguel Ruiz, you'll enjoy the non-fiction works of Della Van Hise. In addition, Della has written professionally for Tomorrow Magazine and other prominent science fiction publications. Her most recent fiction works include Sons of Neverland (an award-winning vampire novel); No Forwarding Address (a science fiction quest of the heart's yearning); and Coyote (a sensuous novel combining the mystical aspects of martial arts, coming of age, and personal sacrifice.) Della shares her life with her significant other, Wendy Rathbone, and a variety of cats, dogs and desert wildlife.

One can easily sink into the cool, crisp sensation brought on by reading through this book of poems. One of my favorites is "Black Book," definitely the voice of the Vampyre King himself. Settle into your favorite armchair by the fire and crack the book's spine to a new prayer, a silver whisper of Moonlight on Tombstones.

0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. a must read! By Amazon Customer I can't say enough good things about this poetry. Each time I thought I had a favorite...I found another. I am a long time reader of Wallace Stevens....And Della surpasses him by far. The imagery, the thoughts, are just incredible. I'm getting a print copy as well...some books, you just need in both mediums

Poetic revelations that take you on a journey with the author as he vacillates over a command from God imploring him to leave a sixfigure management position at the height of his career. After obeying the command and allowing his employment contract to expire, his vociferous discourse with God escalates as he faces the mounting pressures that arise in the wake of unemployment. Each poetic revelation, short story, and parable spills onto the pages with an urgency to express the author's conflicted desire to stay the course of the spirit amid the growing pressures to concede to the practicality of daily living and the allure of the world. This book is the documented outcry of a man who comes to grips with his fear of losing everything in order to explore the essence of his true calling, and ultimately align himself with God's will.

Miller This and its companion volume The Babylonian Story of the Deluge as Told by Assyrian Tablets from Nineveh stand apart as two of the first books written as the Western world rediscovered the legacy of Sumer and Akkad. Both of these books still stand as two of the most authoritive books on Sumerian legends and mythology ever written.

Reevaluation By Andreea I reviewed this book before - not in an enthusiastic manner - but after I received a good bunch of NOs, I began to think that those negative responses were maybe justified. Therefore, I have read again The Babylonian Legends of the Creation. In this work, Sir Ernest Alfred Wallis Budge (British Egyptologist, Orientalist and philologist - or thief, according to modern scholars' opinions) writes about the Seven Babylonian Tablets, discovered in Nineveh by Sir A.H. Layard, Mormuzd Rassam and George Smith - Tablets that contain the Babylonian beliefs regarding the Creation of the world. As in the other mythologies, after the gods are created by a primordial entity (Apsu), an evil being revolts against the ordered primeval world, in order to create chaos. Here, the one who revolts against the gods is a she monster named Tiâmat (represented as a giant snake or a dragon), who gathers other monsters and demons, in order to destroy the world. The monster and her allies (such as the scorpion man and the corned beast) are twelve entities that can be a source for the twelve signs of the zodiac. Tiâmat chooses Kingu (her son) to be the leader of her troops and gives him the Tablet of Destinies. Tiâmat can be defeated only by someone as powerful as her. The gods choose Marduk , son of Ea (god of the underworld) to fight the beast and he also becomes the Head of the Babylonian Pantheon or the supreme god. Marduk catches Tiâmat, takes Kingu prisoner, takes the Tablet of Destinies from him, puts his seal on it and puts it on his breast. The most interesting part, though a little gruesome, is when Marduk creates the world: he cuts open Tiâmat's body, he uses a half of her body to make the Heaven and the other half for the earth. He also creates the stars, the zodiac and gives the other gods their attributions. In order to thank Marduk for his bravery, the other gods build him an impressive shrine (Temple of E-Sagila or House of the Raised Head) In the Seventh Tablet there are hymns dedicated to Matduk used in religious ceremonies; "The "Fifty Names," or laudatory epithets" (Loc. 288-289) of Marduk can be correlated with the "Seventy-five Praises of Rā". (also Loc. 289) Even if every god has its own shrine, one needs to be worshiped. Well, by whom? God Marduk decides that it is the right time to create the Man, but he has to sacrifice a god, in order to mix his blood with earth. He finally chooses Kingu, who was still imprisoned, because he has fought against them. The Babylonian Legends of the Creation is a study under 90 pages, but contains dense information, notes, explanations and the translation of the Seven Tablets, which can be found in the British Museum. Even though, the epic is not complete, the author informs us about the missing lines and what he supposes to be written on the illegible or fragmented pieces of text.

Christianity, the ONLY TRUE religion By Andrew Vincent Sullivan This book is divided up into 6 small books, each book is further divided into sections.Hugo Grotius builds up the Christian faith (Book 1-3) and then demolishes paganism (Book 4), Judaism (Book 5) and Islam (Book 6).I do not know when he originally pinned this book, that being said he lived from 1583–1645, so it was written sometime between those two dates. There are probably better books out there on Christian apologetics then this one. His arguments can be short. But that being said this book shows that the view that only Christianity is true and all other religions are false is NOT an invention of american fundamentalist, rather it is the historic orthodox position, the traditional position, the BIBLICAL position.JEWS AND MUSLIMS DO NOT BELIEVE IN THE SAME GOD WE CHRISTIANS BELIEVE IN!!!!According to Grotius, some Jews taught that "these Wonders (miracles of Christ) were done by the help of devils" (page 191).Also Grotius writes, "they (the Muslims) are offended because we ascribe a Son to God...(page 241)Again Jews and Muslims know who Jesus is, they know we Christians believe that he is the Son of God, God incarnate, messiah, divine miracle worker, savior of the world etc.... its just that they explicitly reject this. Again YOU CANNOT BELIEVE IN THE ONE TRUE GOD AND REJECT JESUS CHRIST AT THE SAME TIME. Anyone who rejects Christ rejects GodHugo Grotius was an arminian. He wrote a commentary/annotations on the Bible and he is the father of the Governmental Theory of Atonement. The Methodist theologian John Miley would later on greatly expand on Grotius' view of the atonement. If I am not mistaken, John Wesley, at the advice of his dad, read Grotius commentary on the Old Testament. Methodist theologian Richard Watson interacts with Grotius in his "Institutes" and Adam Clarke in his Commentary on the Bible praises Hugo Grotius and says that his "The Truth of the Christian Religion" can "never be refuted"Due to the rampant liberalism in the United Methodist Church I strongly recommend that every Methodist should read this book! (Note: I am a life long member of the United Methodist Church . Also, as I have showed above, historically Methodist have held the writings of Hugo Grotius with much esteem)CHRISTIANITY IS THE ONLY TRUE RELIGION ALL OTHER RELIGIONS ARE FALSE!!!!JUDAISM AND ISLAM, LIKE ALL OTHER NON-CHRISTIAN RELIGIONS SENDS PEOPLE TO HELL!!!!!Also Jean Le Clerc two books " Concerning the choice of our Opinion amongst the different Sects of Christians" and "Against Indifference in the choice of our Religion" are also included at the endGod loves us and wants nobody to go to hell. His patience is apart of his mercy. If someone I loved was driving on a bridge that was destroyed I would warn them. If I love them I wouldn't look them in the eye and lie and say the bridge is ok. If i did they will just drive off crash and die. Their blood would be upon my head. But since I love them I will speak the truth. I would warn them. When Christians tell non-Christians that faith in Jesus Christ isn't absolutely necessary for salvation or that their non-christian religion is just a different way to worship the same God and thus conversion isn't necessary I lie and they drive off the bridge. That isn't true love, true love would compel me to try to stop them so they don't drive off the bridge crash and die. Therefore, love one another and preach the Good News that God so loved the world that he sent his only begotten Son so that whosoever believes in him should not parish but have everlasting life.
